DoorCo’s Commercial Director, Ben Aspinall, talks to Glass News about the impact BRiTDOR has made for DoorCo customers
BRiTDOR was launched to the market, last year, as a key product in DoorCo’s ONE Supplier redefined offering. A solid timber core door, finished with CoolSkin technology that matches the wider DoorCo product range and size options to fit any frame on the market, BRiTDOR completes the product line-up to enable us to supply every type of composite door in the UK market. Since its launch, we’ve seen a significant shift in customers’ buying behaviour. A number of leading fabricators have moved over to single source supply from DoorCo, and more are adopting additional products from the ONE complete product portfolio.
Jody Vincent, Sales Director, Emplas testifies: “Over the years, DoorCo’s broadened product offerings have enabled Emplas to provide a more extensive range of composite door options to our installer base. In October last year, we launched the BRiTDOR Collection to add to the ORiGINAL and GRiPCORE collections. The addition of BRiTDOR is designed to support installers in maximising opportunities in the composite door mid-market and has been well received to date.”
Popular characteristics
Right from the start, BRiTDOR was a hit with our customers, and since the addition of the 44mm width option to the previously released 48mm size, sales have risen steeply. But how are customers finding it? From their feedback, these are the highlights:
- Seamlessly matching: Out of the 17-shade colour palette, BRiTDOR is available in three stains, Rosewood, Irish Oak and Golden Oak. Our customers regularly tell us how perfectly these choices in particular, match the windows they are installing. In fact, the whole colour range has been designed to seamlessly match U-PVC window and door profiles, thanks to the CoolSkin Technology outer layer of BRiTDOR. A thermoplastic outer layer with heat-reflective properties, CoolSkin Technology has laminate foils that are a perfect replication of the foils used on PVCu window profiles. We’ve also specially designed our skins to have a woodgrain finish to mimic the signature DoorCo GRP skins, so it fits perfectly with what our customers’ customers are used to buying and uniformed with the ONE product portfolio.
- A hardwood core: The perception of the hardwood solid core of BRiTDOR is attracting customers, far and wide. Although experts know that the thermal efficiency of a foam core door is superior, and the rigidity of a hybrid door like GRiPCORE, is unrivalled, there is a perception of reliability and comfort around wood that emanates trust. Afterall, it’s a material that we’ve using to build houses and furnish for centuries! The solid core of BRiTDOR provides exceptional strength and durability and it also acts as an insulating material, offering thermal efficiency.
- New designs: As with any new collection, new designs have been innovated for BRiTDOR, and our customers love them. Enzo is one that’s really standing out. One of our designer styles, Enzo is ultra-modern with its pre-engraved edge to edge detailing and smooth Links style skin that perfectly matches aluminium windows. The other new designs that are rising in popularity are the Glenman and St Mark.
- Comprehensive styling: The wide range of styles, colours, and finishes makes the BRiTDOR offering appealing to many that are looking for a stylish but not overly expensive front door for their homes.
- It doesn’t come with a frame: Unlike some of our solid core counterparts, BRiTDOR easily integrates into your existing product portfolio so you have complete control over your manufacturing and can harness your own buying power to offer BRiTDOR at a price point that suits your customers. The seamless colour matching is also a huge benefit here, too, in incorporating BRiTDOR to your range.
- Made in the UK: In the current market, anything British made is desirable. Whether it’s for sustainability reasons around supporting the local economy and reduced environmental impact, ethical or patriotic ideals, or simply for business purposes that we have greater control over quality, stock, supply, and with potential new international trade tariffs, cost, BRiTDOR’s British Manufactured badge is a real crowd-pleaser.

British manufacturing
Making the decision to develop and manufacture BRiTDOR in the UK represents a real step change for DoorCo. Although we still enjoy productive relationships with our overseas partners and have good control over the process, investing in Doncaster as the home of BRiTDOR has opened up huge opportunities for the future of DoorCo Manufacturing.
Doncaster is a facility that has enabled us to onshore some of manufacturing to give us greater control and as importantly, to create a centre of manufacturing excellence and innovation where we can not only produce BRiTDOR in the growing volumes our customers are demanding but also explore R&D projects to further enhance our offering.
BRiTDOR is available now to all DoorCo customers as part of our ONE complete product portfolio. Working with DoorCo gives you access to all the composite doors available in the UK – foam, solid, hybrid cores, plus glazing cassettes, glass, colour, and a comprehensive prepping service – all from ONE supplier.
